Disability Insurance Policies
Disability insurance is insurance that protects a worker against potential income losses based off of ability to work. While it does cover on-job accidents that could prevent being able to work, many plans also cover sick leave, mental disabilities that could prevent future work, and both short and long term disability leaves. Disability insurance is recommended for everyone that depends on their income and would be unable to support themselves if they lost most or all of their current pay. However, those who work settings, such as construction, are highly encouraged to seek out disability insurance. The major types of disability insurance that cover individuals are individual disability insurance that can be purchased by anyone, especially those whose jobs do not pay for disability insurance or those who are self-employed, national social insurance programs provided by the state, and employer-supplied disability insurance, also known as worker's compensation.
